| Al Costigan Retired CEO, Level Valley Creamery, Inc.
Al spent his entire 40 year career in the food industry. Primarily focusing on sales and marketing, he worked for several national organizations prior to joining Henri's Food Product Co., Inc., Milwaukee, WI, a privately-held, family-owned company in 1990. Eventually becoming President and Chief Operating Officer, he oversaw the tripling of Henri's sales and net income. After Henri's was sold to Unilever in 1993, Al and two partners decided to pursue their entrepreneurial and independent spirit by purchasing their own company.
In early 1995, they purchased Level Valley Creamery, Inc. in West Bend, WI. This $100 million, 90 year old, family-owned company had become stagnant and needed restructuring to effectively compete in the dairy industry. Al lead the turnaround by making sweeping changes to infrastructure, operations, product mix, product development, sales and marketing, technology and financial planning. As a result of his leadership, the company became the second largest producer of retail private-label cream cheese, became the sole source supplier of cream cheese to Dunkin Donuts, the worlds largest bagel retailer, and provided various dairy-based ingredients to Mars, Hershey, Nestle, Unilever and numerous other branded manufacturers. In July of 2004, Al and his partners sold Level Valley to Schreiber Foods, Inc.
Today, Al is actively serving on several non-profit boards as well as the boards of two small, thriving entrepreneurial food companies.
Al is also a proud Steelers fan and graduate of Duquense University. |
