Harbour Island
Located just 200 miles east of Miami, Harbour Island stands out as one of the most stunning islands in the Bahamas. Sister to Eleuthera Island that lies less than two miles to the west, Harbour Island is home to the three mile long often deserted Pink Sands Beach, frequently rated the top beach in the world, a beach that will truly leave you speechless. “Bri-land,” as the locals call it, is often referred to as the island where time stops. Visitors and locals alike drive golf carts along the narrow, palm tree and flower lined streets. A quiet and peaceful island, you won’t find booming tourist resorts, blaring televisions or traffic jams here, instead Harbour Island offers intimate, charming oceanside villas. Once you arrive on the Island you won’t be surprised it was awarded the number one island of the Caribbean by Travel & Leisure Magazine. Only 3.5 miles long and a mile and a half wide, what Harbour Island lacks in size it makes up for in beauty, charm and history. The island’s historic architecture with tiny villas and numerous old white churches, serves as a reminder that this was once the capital of the Bahamas and is one of the oldest settlements. With its cute local straw shops, a variety of secluded boutique hotels and exclusive restaurants this Caribbean hideaway makes for a perfect getaway from everyday life and typical beach vacations.
