Alan has specialized in entrepreneurial growth companies in a variety of industries throughout his career. His vast experience includes the founding of New England Pottery in 1975, which he grew to be the largest importer and distributor of decorative terra cotta in the United States.

After continued growth for many years, Alan balanced out the seasonality of the pottery business by acquiring GKI Lighting, which specialized in Christmas holiday products. After successfully integrating the acquisition into the main business, Alan and his other founding partner sold the business to a private equity group.  He continued to lead the company with his partner. Subsequently, the company was sold to Central Garden and Pet, a publicly traded company based in Walnut Creek, CA.  He continued to run the operation until June 2006 and now holds an advisory position at their corporate headquarters.

Alan has also developed a large portfolio of real estate through development and acquisitions specializing in industrial distribution centers. His knowledge and experience in running both operating companies and a real estate business make Alan one of Southeastern Massachusetts' premiere business leaders.

Alan holds a degree in accounting from Northeastern University.
