Whistler, British Columbia
Whistler Village, just 90 minutes from Vancouver, is located at the base of the world famous Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains, part of the majestic slopes of the Coast Range. The 200 marked runs, 34 lifts, 13 alpine bowls, three glaciers and award-winning terrain make this a skier's dream come true. Whistler boasts a twenty-year average 30 ft. of snowfall at the summit each year. The scenery in this part of the world is fabulous. Marvel at the freshwater lakes and glacial-fed streams and rivers that cut through alpine meadows along hiking and mountain biking trails. Wade into the streams and hook a trout or salmon. In the spring and summer, adventurers trek the rugged backcountry at the nearby Garibaldi Provincial Park. The water-sport enthusiast will not be disappointed, as Whistler is renowned for those who canoe, kayak, swim and windsurf. Between May and October, golfers play at championship courses designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Whistler has much to offer with its laid-back mountain atmosphere and will host the 2010 Winter Olympics.
